Privacy for the average student is usually in limited supply, meaning if you'd like some, resorting to the countryside is often the best choice. I discovered one day on a nature hike with a new girlfriend, after kidding around about how we seemed to have a meadow to ourselves, that she, as much as I, was thinking it would be fun to get naked. It was like sharing a mutual spark of intuition. Relationships of course came and went after that day, but strategically I found nature reliably cued the aforementioned spark in new girlfriends. Nudity Around The House
I admit to being a fan of candid nudity. Then I look at the various free-for-all submission sites and think, no, really I'm not a fan. Maybe I'm a snob but really folks, what motivates anyone to submit a picture of heavily overweight woman vacuuming her trailer in the nude? Okay. I'm a snob of sorts. I want some mediation, or selectively. I want to keep down my lunch.

What's surprising is that after sifting through a mountain of submissions and rejecting the majority, we're still left with sizable amount of publish-worthy samples of life lived nude. Not everyone gets why "candid" simple nudity is appealing and that's fine. For me it rekindles memories of those first-times when you find yourself with a woman whose comfortable being naked around you. You're home cocooning and she dashes to the kitchen to make coffee and doesn't bother to dress. The nudity you enjoy just moments prior is now animated in another direction--just taking care of business, drying hair, ironing, slipping on the panty hose. No, it's not Penthouse Letters stuff. Relative Nudity: Big families that like to get together for the holidays often have to live in tight quarters with privacy at a premium. Sleepovers meant cousins and aunts were scattered around the house, some on the rec-room pull-out sofa, others in sleeping bags, and mornings meant the usual business of getting up, getting dressed, fighting for the bathroom. Comfortable In Their Own Skin

We've very deliberately included near-nudity as well as full nudity in the scheme of both Nudist House and Candid Nudity. It gives us such a broaded horizon for appreciating our expanded view of Body Freedom. Being comfortable in one's underwear involves nearly the same ease and lack of modesty (if not more in some cases) that permits people to practice nudism, whether at home or in nudist environments. Hanging Out Naked With Your Mate: One of our first pictorials was labeled "Sunday Mornings," which fit the presented imagery of couples lying around naked during a lazy weekend. It still fits. For most a little open nudity at home doesn't sound like a big deal. Everyone engages a little personal nudity during the course of day and doors are not always locked in a typical home. If your parents are life-long hippies and you live in the Napa Valley, you may have grown up with very liberal attitudes toward nudity in general. Families of this type seem not to own swimsuits. Fourteen year old Elizabeth explains, "Why would I want to wear to wet clothes?" Indeed.
Atlanta offers a favorable outdoor climate for nude recreation from May through September, and with abundant vegetation, most backyards offer the right amount of discretionary privacy to go ahead and water the garden nude (or sunbath, skinny dip in the pool, etc.). In contrast to busy beaches or spring break mayhem, when girls take to nature for the quiet pursuit of an all-over tan or relief from the weather. Fortunately, there is often the brave friend on hand to suggest, maybe with just a modicum of privacy afoot, that they take off their clothes. It's always a good day if, upon a nature hike yourself, you spot a pair of girls thus engaged with the elements.
Over the years I've noticed a disproportionate number of submissions from the south of girls enjoying a nude adventure. It must be the heat and humidity, and doing whatever it takes to seek relief. In the private lives of best friends, when summer and time conspire favorably, interesting things can happen. The girl removing her clothes along the bank of a pond or creek in the full flower of blooming womanhood is a sight to behold (and if you're familiar with classical art you know of it's popular appeal over the breadth of history).
The Midwest is also a bountiful source of nude nature photography (with Iowa farm girls seemingly leading the pack--what's going on there?). Country girls lying nude in a meadow, or skinny dipping in the local quarry, and the fact that these are real girls, makes for an aesthetically pleasing diversion, especially in these times. Skinny Dipping
Updated: They're everywhere. We knew them from our schools and neighborhoods. They were there during family reunions, the cute, giggly cousins, all of whom, over several seasons, as if transformed by magical faerie dust, they became miraculous wonders, objects of arresting mystery. Sometimes, if we were lucky, if the season was right for it and the mood accommodating, we saw them without their clothes on. Fake protests usually preceded the event; skinny dipping at the family cabin or by the Iowa farm pond. Games of "show you mine" erupted in fits of showy silliness (but also, dead earnestness). We were elevated to new levels at such moments, which seldom slip from memory.

And today on those Iowa farms, along rivers in Ohio, on beaches in California, in the verdant fields of Oregon, girls still share their secrets. It's the same ritual for every generation. The manufactured panic at the idea of getting naked, the shrieks, the slow reveals, the sudden adjustment of awareness to pending adulthood, full of its threats and promises.

The skinny dip is a potent re-arranger of the status quo. Its yield becomes fire in those special compartments we all store in memory. It is with the greatest respect that we admire these pleasant transformations.

One of the best things about nudist or candid nude photography is that you don't have to make anything up (and if you try, it fails horribly). Teens in particular take a lot of nude or near-nude photography (of each other, and self-shots), and many consider it an honor to have it posted online. They even send you their links. I would say it peaks in their late teens to early twenties, but we also get many from thirty-somethings and slightly older. Generally, it's always remarkably unselfconscious. Even the "gotcha" shots are joyful.
Hanging Out Nude: As we've said before, it's very interesting that when girls get together for sleepovers or parties in their room, there's often nudity or partial nudity involved. Men don't do it, thankfully. We're glad women feel differently about it.

Blending into "candid" from outright "nudist" are those transitory moments when fresh arrivals on a nudist have to remove their clothes. It's always an interesting procedure, each subject displaying their personal preferences on matters of dramatic flair and order. Top first? Top and bottoms, then underthings? All bare top before getting to the bottoms? Okay, now we're feeling silly. You get the point.

I particularly enjoy watching my girlfriend's routine (this being the third girlfriend I've introduced to nudism). Every woman has her own little repertoire for disrobing. Some linger at strategic points, others rush to get the job done. Teens are matter of fact (and don't even fold their removed clothing. Women in their thirties and beyond always do). The other point of interest is the lingerie they select for this ritual. Usually it's what you might imagine them wearing for a date, very lacy and sexy stuff, and never the practical variety offering support and utility. When the last bit of lace comes off there is an aha moment, like might happen when a masterpiece is revealed for the first time. It never gets old.

Teen Skinny Dipping
It's one of the best types of candid photography, the giggly dashes and insincere modesty, the quick flick of the tops and bottoms, the shrieks and laughter--all very wholesome stuff, and enjoyed by teens everywhere around the world.

Candid Teen Bedroom: The "gotcha" shots, the sleep-overs, the curiously inclined with their camera phones making self-assessments, the sitting around in bras and panties (as a middle-age male I feel silly writing this stuff, but it is accurately descriptive I must say).

Girls Sunbathing: Another wholly wholesome activity, especially when they help each other with the sunblock application. It's also extremely interesting to see it done in their underwear instead of bathing suits. If it's any indication of popularity, shots like above receive the most member hits of any of the candids.

Candid Cigar Box Finds: Let me explain it this way: You rummage through your parents things and find a cigar box under some old linen. You open it, and suddenly a dramatic rush of realization tortures your spine--mom? It often reveals a side of her life you may have wished remain concealed. Ed.

There's a look of playful defeat in "gotcha" candid photography that mimics the Mona Lisa (I hope that's not reaching too far). It's a smile of consensual submission--"Okay, you got me, click away." Showers, baths offer perfect opportunities. When the subject is cooperative, seemingly pleased to be worthy of a digital moment, it definitely adds something. "Do you can care if I post it? You don't?" Well, there's Freud all over those feelings that rush in like a freight train.

The Joys Of Having A Houseful Of Teen Visitors

Visiting an old college friend I made one of those frank admissions that only seem to follow several helpings of scotch. I told him how much I enjoyed it when my daughter had her college friends over for visits, and that just having them around made me feel good. He concurred. There's nothing like having young women fussing over you.

Of course this is a "look, don't touch" situation, and gentlemen, if you can't control yourselves stay clear. I understand that some don't see the point of simply appreciating their beauty as you would a fine piece of art. If you do, then simple snapshots of impromptu moments of nudity (as above) might strike the right chord. Casual nudity, gently offered by innocent girls unashamed of their bodies, well, there are few things better.

So if you find you're somewhat eager for those holiday house-fulls of your daughter's friends, we understand. If you do appreciate art, you'll note it's a been well documented preoccupation over the ages. Simple nudity has inspired many a masterpiece.

The Pleasant Intimacy Of Living In Closed Quarters With Girls

One year at college I shared an apartment with three girls, one being a close of my sister from home. There were no strictly romantic relations between us. It was to be a matter of economics and convenience, and we all got along well enough.

As we grew accustomed to each other and began our "goofing off" phase, after we were all comfortable with each other, the clothing rules loosened up. It was okay to make a break for the bathroom or examine the frig late at night in our underwear, for example. After some more time together, shower exits and or changing clothes no longer required a closed door. There are incidental moments of shared nudity before and following "intimate relations" that I have about them a coziness and chumminess that's hard to describe. You're just hanging out, naked, affectionate, touching and caressing, talking--I trust you've been there.

Being male I also happen to have a natural tendency to want to preserve the moment for the historical record. This is a genuine impulse without agenda. There's an Hindu or some other Eastern suspicion that photographs can capture the soul--I think I agree.

When they say they don't mind if I share the pictures, well, that nearly undoes me. "Really!?" "Sure," she says.

Years later these photos have special meaning. They tend to survive breakups and divorce (how devious we men are). I don't know if they ever think about them again.

The Other March Madness: Spring Break

If you're familiar with The Nude Review, you know we appreciate both nudity and near-nudity, particularly of the impromptu kind (well, all of it really), such as above during spontaneous outbursts of skinny dipping, in this case during Spring Break. The act of disrobing (all the way or partially) in public can be very titillating to view, let alone participate in. It's a common feature in Spring Break Meccas, from Florida to California and down into Mexico and Belize.

In particular, "candid" captures (versus posed) have an extra vibrancy about them, and the party atmosphere of Spring Break is enough to assure an adequate influx of submissions (often arriving direct from iPhones, which take excellent pictures) and time-stamped after midnight. I wonder what that could mean.

While elsewhere we have an emphasis on nudism (somewhat broadly interpreted and celebrated) and general nudity (Mobley's), Candid Nudity includes a goodly portion of near-nude focus of a casual bent. We consider it a celebration (along with the rest) of feminine beauty in its various manifestations during the course of a typical day. That it covers rising, bathing, fixing their hair, dressing, undressing, moments in the nude, goofy nudity, accidental nudity (and intentional, say, with a playful mate) and all points in-between just shows how thorough we are.

And mediated. It's a response to all the horror out there, particularly of the amateur variety. We all know porn starlets make very bad impersonators of your typical American college coed or goodly housewife. Only the real article will do. There needs to be an undercurrent of wholesomeness, or reality, inclusive in the general aura.

There's a film with Annie McDowell wherein her husbands asks her, while waiting for room service in their hotel suite, to answer the door when their order arrived. Now, I've been that husband, so I know what was going on in his head. For some reason the prospect is a little titillating. There, I've said it out loud.

But that's really just an aside... Vacation nudity, which is by nature casual, involves hotel rooms, resort suites and summer cabins, tents--anywhere where people are changing or hanging out less than fully clothed in strange places (not their usual spaces for such things). It also include school trips with overnights, staying in youth hostels, and (in one intriguing scenario, sleeper cars on trains).

In the series above (girls on spring break sharing a room), coeds sharing some wine in their suite while plotting their dinner plans, there is absolutely no need for pouty looks or scandalous behavior to make the scene interesting. How many times have you walked by a hotel room and heard girls laughing and wished you could be a fly on their wall? In my case I've lost count.

Hence the intrigue. It's doesn't work for everyone, but if works for you, it really, really does.

During my final year of college I shared a house with three single girls and another guy. There was no real romantic element involved in the menage, but we were all openly flirty, in a jokey sort of way. It was in fact very sexy that way. The longer we lived together, the more daring we became. The natural culmination, as you might suspect, did lead into a few "hook ups" and lot's of playful nudity, friendly showerings together, hanging around in skivvies. It was a brilliant time.

So pictures of very casually naked women (sitting around doing their nails, watching TV, fixing their hair) are a favorite of mine. Among my favorite candid categories is the form illustrated above, nude or near-nude coed initiation ceremonies, most typically a feature of Scandinavian schools, but also becoming more and more popular in the U.S. There's something about the "dare" and the whole group thing, the obvious bonding, the joy and silliness of running around in one's underwear, that I find very titillating (in a "wholesomely" exciting way). The roommates, dorm-mates, girlfriends after school, all those teens and young women who delighted us with glimpses of their nubile flesh, regardless of our actual rights to touch and caress, sit in our memories like treasures from a lost past. It turns out, neither can they.

Thanks to Facebook, I connected with my first serious girlfriend thirty years after the fact, the first to ever let me see and such her naked breast. As neither of us had an intention of reconnecting, we were safe to joke and kid about our fumbling first forays into each other's private aspects. I asked if she remembered the first time I held her breast. She replied immediately, "Like it was yesterday!" I was glad to hear it. Recalling that exact moment was not exactly an infrequent occurrence on my end, so I was relieved to hear she too held the memory dear.

Touching or not, just being naked or partially dressed in the company of a girl really counted for something. Seeing that girl from geography class sitting on your desk with her top off was a nether-worldly experienced, diminished only by the need to remain cool and calm.

Of course it's not just in one's room where we have first encounters. I remember empty lots, heading off into "the woods," school trips, they all count for their firsts as well. But in one's boyhood room, where just a few years before we slept in cowboy themed sheets, when a girl penetrates this sacred space for the first time as woman, and reveals this truth to you--well, that's special.

Talk about getting the hand of "keyword rich" copy for the Web... But seriously, this candid stuff is so much more interesting than porn, which we don't get at all (in fact we hate it). It means we risk sounding like silly boys with infantile fantasies. So be it. Another thing we don't get is older men who still say things like "I'd do her," or "pussy." We know we exist in a very unpopulated region of manhood (Men of taste? Maturity? Men who in fact really do love women?).

As with hunger, our appreciation of women and teens never permanently wains, no matter how well sated. It returns. Just as in the movie "Groundhog Day," we awake each morning starting off where we left things the night before--wholly and nearly insatiably interested in women. And not just in women, but in every aspect of their lives, and particularly when they're young (see "In My Room"). It's a banner day for us when they congregate, such as at private pool parties when men aren't around.

For most, our first experimental, non-bath related "nudity," where we're spending a lot of time naked is, of course, is in bedroom. I remember the first time I laid out naked on my bed during a horrendously hot summer and let the breeze through the window tingle my still ship-shape flesh (not that at thirty it's gone too far south). I remember looking forward to those private sessions of mine, going to my room "to be naked." It had become something to be, and not just a transition state between stages of the day. It's where and how I got comfortable with what I was becoming.

My hippie father played a Beach Boys tune for me when I was around thirteen, "In My Room," and it struck home immediately. In my room, the place, was becoming very important. It' where I could hold my hand mirror at odd angles to the big dresser mirror to see how things were shaping up, how I'd look to other people, to that boy in World History, for example. Would he be the one? All of that is considered at great length in one's room. It's where we first see how it feels, how our body changes in response, to where our minds are going. (See larger pic)

Have An In-Ground Pool Installed

I was happy to read earlier today in Live Science that mid-life crises are a myth. It makes me feel better for feeling very much like I did when I was a sixteen year-old boy. What the article told me is, now that I'm not distracted in the "power-phase" of my life, those early corporate ladder climbing years, I'm able to relax a bit and contemplate the other things in life that really give me enjoyment. Like naked girls and women.

When it comes to "candid" nudity, which really means women and teens just being themselves, albeit, naked or barely dressed, having a swimming pool around is handy. The key here is, let the nudity happen organically. Never say, "Hey, you can get naked if you want." That's a little creepy. Instead, if you're in the mood to have a naked swim, warn your fellow home occupants. It's a courtesy, plus it plants the idea in their heads. You'll find they will want "their turn" and before you know it everyone is partaking and eventually not minding when others are around. If you family has an open nudity policy, so much the better.

Okay, that may sound a little creepy too (manipulative). Believe me, it's not. People like to get naked whether they admit it or not, whether they're young or old. The only people that don't seem to be the ones with a weight problem, and we've told you elsewhere how to deal with that (don't). You've probably figured out by now that a lot of getting what you want in life involves setting the stage properly, creating opportunities for the life you want to happen.

We can sit here and argue all day about taste but it won't change anything. You will have your idea and I'll likely preserve mine. It's lose-lose. A website's taste either suits you or it doesn't. Occasionally something might not suit your taste sensors, but if on the whole you enjoy the site, you can just accept that once in a while you might say "not for me." Beyond that what is there to say?

There are sites I love to check out when I'm bored or in the mood (or both). Met Art and Femjoy often have splendid photography, but in every case, and I mean without exception, they dip the camera and have the model succumb to a gynecological exam. You know, that just doesn't pull my trigger. If I was being intimate with a girl and she paused our procession to display her doctor visit routines I'd ask her to leave the room. Okay, maybe that's me and not you.

The editors have concluded that it's very interesting to see girls or young women sunbathing in public in their underwear. You see this frequently in Europe and occasionally in New York's Central Park. You may even see it in your neighborhood, or on the balcony next door. Whenever you see it you always thank your little piece of Heaven and move on with a memory keepsake. Like the "nip slip" or "up shirt" flash delivered courtesy of your secretary or cubicle mate, no harm is done. Among the things I find pleasurable in life are these accidental reminders of the fire burning within. As a regular feature it tends to be among the more popular.

And it isn't a matter of taste, by the way, but of one's ability to absorb and comprehend the differences between the good, the bad and the ugly.

It's a growing phenomenon. It used to be you could go to a popular nightspot and not see a naked breast. Now you're disappointed if you don't. And I'm not talking about meat markets or dives, but medium to upscale joints that attract a younger crowd, particularly in college towns.
I'm not complaining, and I have a little history here of my own to share. Once in a Seattle club my then girlfriend (a rebound) drank a little too much and, while shaking her booty on the dance floor, let one of her breasts go free range. One of those bright summers of long ago a group of us started a "nudist" club, which meant we'd meet along a quiet stretch of lake shore and take our clothes off. We'd then frolic and giggle and end up being far more childlike than our hormones would have like, seeking a remedy as they do for their incitements. If only we had had digital cameras back then.

It's nearly a rite of passage. Teens hanging out nude or in their skivvies is a time-honored tradition in some locals (general requirements: a lake, stream, river or nice wide open country field). Everyone is brimming with wonder about everyone else, and thankfully there is always someone in the group willing to go first, usually the most advanced and ripened among us. Men. Or Is It?

Sometimes we feel a little sheepish discussing things that evoke our appreciation. Admittedly some "visual" categories (as defined on the Web) drift more into objectification than admiration or gratitude, which is where we're coming from. Accidental sightings of the genre "upskirt" or "downblouse" are some of life's little perks, arriving unexpectedly, momentarily lifts to the spirit, small reminders of the joys of life. Yes, It's A Bit Sneaky, But...

The subject of "sleeping nudity" isn't very well managed generally (you know what we mean if you've seen sites highlighting this "niche"). But with an aesthetically healthy editorial mind at the helm, this type of candid nudity is not without intrigue. Who hasn't happened upon the accidentally exposed breast of an attractive in-law snoozing on the sofa? Or rather, who hasn't imagined it? One of the highlights of having "attractive" company is the opportunity to witness their dressed-down phases in the course of a day, from flimsy negligee at the breakfast table to haphazardly secured towel on the way to or from the bath. Have you ever been to a nude rave? Or danced naked in broad daylight on a crowded beach? If you have, or have had the pleasure of watching others do it, you know it's a fairly enjoyable way to kill time. "Happy Nudity" best describes the overall effect, whether it's on a nudist beach, a Faerie Convention (yes, they have those), Rainbow Gathering, bohemian rock concert, Eastern European nudist fertility fest (yeah, they have those too), nude initiation ceremonies or coed spring breaks.

We acknowledge that nude dancing can also look pretty stupid. It's a case where the subject determines the desirability of the view. But overall women and teens having a great time in the nude moving and swooning the way they tend to do to danceable tunes is one of God's gifts to the planet. You cannot help but be absorbed in the moment. As for candid, what could be more forthright and sincere?

You get it. "Walk-by" instead of "Drive-by," to describe those times when you encounter incidental nudity just going about your business when at home. There's the common nudity men experience with their wives, in some cases with their children (in "blended families" this takes on a weird resonance) and one of my favorites, when in-laws or one of your wife's old roommates drop in for a visit. When thinking of in-laws think of "sister-in-law." If you're lucky she's attractive and she thinks of you as a brother when it comes to modesty.

Sure, it's childish to get a kick out of these scenarios, the accidental sightings in the bath, the open bedroom door while she's changing routines. Then again, it's natural. We men are programmed a certain way. We don't intellectualize these things. We just endure.

There is no better expression of candid nudity than these forms of encounter. There is usually no preparatory set-up, no real anticipation--it just happens. The usual response is "Oh, sorry!" expressed while making the pretense of averting one's eyes (well, the head turns but the eyes retain their vector). She'll blush and there will be a tiny discomfort getting through the next normal encounter, but no real harm is done.

My wife has admitted in the past she sort of manufactured this scenarios when her brother had friends over to their house. She'd let herself be seen in in her underwear and make a big show if spotted, produce an air of modesty, and close her door. But in fact she enjoyed it as much as the visiting boys did.

In that regard we can dispense with any guilt we might feel over chance little encounters. It could always be a set-up.

Who Don't Get It

I'm sure you have one. The guy you knew in college who was sort of a nerd but nice enough with whom you lost track until the Internet infringed and there he was in your inbox. No problem. It's nice to catch up. Then he starts to send you filthy pictures with silly comments, tee-hee. You're disgusted (thinking, "So that's the sort of guy who looks at this stuff") but feel obliged to comment, maybe saying "Nice!" with hopes that he go away. Big mistake.

As he didn't go away, I thought it would be useful to mankind to instruct him on the finer aspects of less pornographic photography. Don't you like a little mystery, I asked, providing examples. He thought my samples were childish (saying something like "that's so high school"). Actually, I know he didn't get anything in high school but blank stare rejections.

Provoked, I asked him to send some more samples of what got him hot. There results were horrendous, not sexy in the least, offensive to any human. I tried to dig into his psyche. Another big mistake. His attitude toward women was, should any ever condescend to sleep with him, that he get it over with as quickly as possible (else she run away?). When I asked about her pleasure, he said that was her problem. Oh, I'd never thought of that.

So the picture above wouldn't elicit much of a response from him. Maybe it doesn't work for you either. That's okay. It's fairly simple, a bit blurred, plus there are no genitals in frame. But I've seen that look on a woman's face a dozen times, and in person. It's the sort of look you only get when you've been intimate. It's playful, the sort you get after sex, or before. What's Not To Like, Part 2

While many men, if not most, view sex as the Holy Grail of intimacy, I've always held a differing view. Sex is great, but it's on that plateau one finds themselves when a sexual relationship has begun that I most cherish. This is when casual or candid nudity takes hold, where she doesn't cover up to run to the kitchen or bath, or reads the Sunday paper wearing nothing but panties, does the crossword with her robe open, that sort of thing. This is what I'm most jealous of if the relationship ends and I imagine her with someone new. It's a killer.

So, as innocuous as the above picture may be, it speaks to me. There's a naked girl in the kitchen making coffee. She likes that I appreciate her body. She knows when she dresses I'll have an eye on her and doesn't mind it. Later in the day when dressed I'll have that pleasant anticipation of seeing her naked later. Remember your first boy-girl nudity? It almost never loses its appeal (well, marriage can make it stale if both parties let themselves go).

While there is both Casual Home Nudity and Candid Nudity to capture the essence in both realms, they really crossover at times. How a single picture strikes one or the other mood depends on very subtle variations in tone. But who cares? If you like one you also like the other--so what's not to like?

There's Nothing Like Clean Nudity

Universally, women assume a certain look when candidly captured having their baths--it's a look of bored submission, a "whatever" roll of the eyes that manages to make you feel foolish but doesn't dissuade you from pursing the task at hand, namely, photographic or video capture of your soaking subject. That submissive look is misleading, however, masking their power to make you acknowledge their supremacy as objects of desire, and frankly, if not to you, to someone else. Your click of the camera is an affirmation. When you put the camera aware they begin to worry.

Of course, the pesky web adds another dimension to the harmless mischief. Chief among protagonists, fortunately, are teens, who snap each other with an unquenchable appetite. As we say, look at your teen's cellphone photo file if you're thinking we're wrong about this. It's nearly a badge of honor to have your nude photographs circulated, plus it disarms those who think they've got something on you. In fact, they're the ones with the power, hence those "whatever" eye-rolls.

In our book it's all win-win. And nothing says wholesome and clean better than a good scrub.

When Heaven Meets Earth

"Initiation Nudity" is creeping into American consciousness as evidence of thriving practice in Europe seeps into mainstream sites with the usual shock and awe. Even high school students partake of nudity (or near so) in initiation rites--for freshmen.

One of the most provocative books I read in junior high was the Harrod Experiment, back before coed dorms were the norm. It carried the notion to mean a boy and girl sharing a single room, and of course the showers was unisex, adding to the allure. While the book is still a stretch in this country, communal, and coed, changing rooms and baths are common in Europe, and coed junior high nudity isn't like a raise a stir.

In the seventies I viewed a film where bank customers were forced to strip to their underwear during a burglary (I forget which, but it wasn't a remake of Inside Man which includes a similar scene). I thought how lucky it would have been to be a victim, albeit male. It was an exciting premise (to me), and the initiation pictures strike a similar tone, though circumstances are obviously contrived, the boys and girls know ahead of time of portends (so they were their best skivvies), and all is done in good humor.

Good humor is important, of course. Had I in my youth been told to assemble in the gym with my class and strip down--honestly, can you imagine?--I would have thought school the best of all possible worlds.

But a glimpse of such a Heaven back then could have inspired me to flunk a grade to secure repeat performances. I wonder if it's a problem for the Swedes...

In the corporate world the international types (primarily in Europe and parts of Asia) often accrue stigma as they pass over promotion opportunities that would repatriate them, and end-up their careers overseas running minor divisions. Once considered hardship postings, the newbie expat learns life is pretty good in some of those foreign locales. Europeans have a sixth sense for the finer things in life, particularly in ways of pleasing the palate and most importantly, the body. To them, sensual living is the only way to live, or so it seems.

As is becoming well known, Europeans also have a casual relationship with nudity. They don't seem to mind it. When Americans become accustomed to this, on Euro beaches, in their bathhouses, even campgrounds, reverting to a more prim society back home seems like a step backward.

What could be more "candid" in the way of nudity than entering a coed locker room to dress down for the sauna, especially when the bath house is next to a coed university? All around you are young students, and of course the regular folks, all engaged in dressing or undressing, chattering away as if there was nothing to it. From there to the showers, where you all scrub together (imagine), then to the various steam rooms and saunas, pool, even the bar, where loosely draped in towels your fellow humanity casually sips incredibly delicious beer. And the females folks of all-ages seem to outnumber the men.

We doubt you need much convincing. If you haven't tried it, it's worth the trip. And unlike some nudist activities, shrinkage is not a problem.

It certainly puts a spring in your step and smile on your face, these little incidents of accidental exposure, the "down blouse" or "upskirt" glimpses, innocent by default, and nearly always pleasurable. It Is What It Is

The ubiquity of nude or near-nude on the Web is growing exponentially, which doesn't mean it's getting better. There's just more of it. Frankly speaking, naked people don't interest me. But attractive naked or near-naked teen girls? I would have to admit to a strong interest there.

In Nexus groups I learned it was okay to let my preferences lean in one direction, admit that, yes, looks were important, and that a brilliant mind couldn't make up for a less than brilliant physical arrangement. Love cannot conquer all, not always.

Other men my age who have divorced and reentered the "dating" market have learned what I've learned. Women in their fifties look like our mothers. There, I said it. And I don't mean to offend. But isn't it striking when you see an older woman who doesn't remind you of older aunt or other relative? Then again, I've known men who prefer older women (they must really enjoy all those "Milf" sites).

So I worship at the altar of teen beauty, where I find a lot of company. Through antiquity genius talents have focused on youthful beauty and felt no shame in it. It's like a default setting. My wife said sure, I could take a picture of her nude, and then post it online. I was flummoxed. You mean, really, I can? Then of course came the wondering what it all really meant. She wants to be nude online? She doesn't care if other men see her nude? SHE WANTS IT? Rather than horror, I felt horny. Incredibly horny. The proper vacation spirit requires a bit of devil-may-care mischievousness--if done properly, that is. Maybe There Is A God

Among the things I'm thankful for is, typically, 1) that men don't get together and romp around nude and, 2) that women and teens do, or at least in their skivvies, which is often better (giving the imagination room to roam). We've noticed a surge in submission popularity lately for nuptial-night, champagne-loosened bride pictures and videos. There is definitely something exotic about such evenings, perhaps a carryover from medieval times when brides were surly virgins, or at a minimum, good actors in bed. For the most part it didn't come to mind to capture those after school moments when, before checking in at home, we were able to squeeze in some precious moments, perhaps in the woods, or behind the strip-mall (how romantic), on playing fields or well wooded back-yards, with our "girlfriends." Sneaky Photography Within Families: Make Sure They Get Your Good Side

On a joint family vacation in my youth, one of the other family's sons wanted to peak on my sister, who was sharing a room with his sister next to our own. We were staying in a creaky cabin of unsound construction with plenty of accidental holes decorating the walls, so the challenge wasn't big. I'd never thought of spying on my own sister (God forbid!), but was coming of age to find the prospect of seeing his sister nude or dressing of some urgent appeal. So we peaked, avidly. It was when I learned about pubic hair. At the time Playboy didn't have any, so I thought it was an absent feature on females generally. Seeing that my sister possessed a similar patch turned my stomach. Talk about conflicting sentiments.

Without an honest preview you're never sure of what you'll get, and often what you get is furiously disgusting, like Yahoo Personals. How could a human find that free-for-all stuff enjoyable, unless to be sent as a surprise attachment to your ex-wife's lawyer?

The relentless photo captures do manage to snare an occasional gem, say one out of twenty submissions, and these accrue at a respectable pace thanks to the enormous activity. Sisters, wives, girlfriends, sisters-in-law or neighbors, none are more than a click away from being perpetually appreciated. It's just a matter of time before we're all featured naked on the Web. We may as well make sure the world gets a good example.

We're Not Kidding Anyone

A recent study revealed that, when test subjects were given ten photographs of nude female subjects age fifteen to fifty, measurements of galvanic skin response (GSR) jumped when they viewed the younger candidates. This was true for both men and women. We'd cite the study with a hyperlink, but then you would go off and look at it.

There's no shame in admitting the beauty of youth is highly interesting. It's akin to going back to where it all started for us as adults, in our teens, our dress rehearsal for life. My fifteen year old girlfriend is now fifty-six and resembles nothing of her former self. Neither do I. If today I handed her a nude photograph of my myself and one of a young buck in prime, I have no doubt her GSR would mimic the study. Who said life was fair?

So yes, no one is fooled. Our presentation of "candid nudity" is biased. We favor youth because frankly we receive so much that is good. And real. Least attractive to us are the pouty stares or elaborate displays of genitalia (which you'll never see on our sites). Give me a naked girl standing in the kitchen making a sandwich--my mind will do the rest.

Of course we have Mobley's for the more softly erotic, mildly stimulating or outright arousing photography, none of which we consider pornographic. We like that too. But for casual or candid nudity, simple and straightforward is best. Above all, it must be real. We're not fooling anyone. We never intended to.

Then I Realized How Important It Was

"Candid Nudity," along with "Casual Home Nudity," captures all those incidental moments of women and teens in transition from clothed to nude, or simply reduced to their lingerie, just hanging-out naked, or in whatever state you would call the above. Let's just call it "wife getting ready for bed."

Several times in my adult life I've lived single (between entanglements of varying duration and intensity). I'm coming to believe it's my preferred state, the proper position for me in the world, a stasis-point. Then I have dinner with a few couples, or meet for drinks, and at the end of the evening watch them go off together to their homes as I return to mine alone, usually equipped with a few anecdotes that reassure my decision to remain single, but also full of the realization that those couples will be shortly preparing for bed, getting undressed, going through their intimate rituals of getting to sleep.

She will undo her blouse, unhook her bra, remove her skirt or jeans, probably while chatting with her spouse, or into the phone. Then, wearing only panties, walk to the bath to brush her teeth. She may or may not remove them before getting into bed. Lights out, and perhaps some cuddling ensue, but it's not important. Her husband treats the whole spectacle of bedtime routine in a rather ho-hum manner. Yes, his wife is ten feet away undressing, or standing nude. He's seen it thousands of times before. Yawn.

When eventually they divorce, and half of us do, he will one evening stand alone in his bedroom preparing for bed, wondering who the hell she is with now, going through her routine, standing in her panties at the sink. We men all do it, once we find ourselves alone after a relationship comes to an end. Who is she with now?

If we're lucky we've arrived at the point where we can hope that, whoever he is, he is making her happy. We know he too, will fall into routine, regard her in a ho-hum fashion. It's inevitable. We can miss it, but once we realize there are many opportunities for happiness ahead of us, many more possibilities to gain the intimacy couples share in their at-home routines, and not spoil it with marriage, the magic and mystery returns.

Sex is great, as is variety. But sometimes it's the smaller intimacies that count most.

Spontaneous nudity is often the most fun. Sometimes it's the result of a provocative dare or simply a goofy tease. A few candid poses builds some heat, an hour later you're standing in the kitchen building sandwiches, the afternoon having been spoken for. Indoor recreation they call it.

There must be a lot of it going on. The before sex, after sex, shower-gotcha, nude tip-toe to the fridge while company sleeps, answer the door naked, all opportune times to click and behold. The essence of candid is impromptu, playful, often sneaky.

Whatever else it is we leave to the imagination.

"My daughter became very concerned about her underwear when she entered junior high, knowing there would be locker rooms and showers at school after PE. I took her to the mall so she could revamp her 'lingerie wardrobe' thinking she would pick out a few lacy things but nothing really 'sexy'. Instead she insisted on going to Victoria's Secret, and once there, straight to thongs and racy bras. I thought, oh my God. This was suppose to be years away."

This is more or the less the story shared by a work-mate about her thirteen year old daughter. I found it very amusing, but with an appropriate layer of guilt. Then again, I'm a man, dammit. It's an interesting anecdote, particular as I was once a teen boy faced with an armada of sparring hormones attempting to get the better of me. It's clears thing up a bit to know why.

I've heard from other women that teen girls morphing into womanhood often take a particular interest in their delicate apparel. It's natural they would. There's a lot of exciting cell activity occurring beneath the crisp blouses and pleated skirts and what better way is there to celebrate than with lace and filigree?

But hold on. This one woman went to explain girls buy their delicate apparel with other girls in mind, not boys. It's a way to show off their developing bodies, bring attention to the unfolding dramas of shifting emphasis here and there, those regions under constant surveillance by boys.

"When teens girls get together in their rooms trying on different outfits is a big deal, an absorbing activity, repeated daily throughout the school year. When cameras began appearing in the ubiquitous cell phone, the evidence became abundant. They tend to ham it up when in their skivvies for the camera. They like to strike very adult poses. I doubt you'd see boys doing the same," said my friend.

Indeed not, thankfully.

Point Of View Is Important

In Nexus yoga groups we learn how to manage the view--best strategy is to get to class early and secure a front row--but we're just natural beings, right? So what's to worry? There are simply some positions we're not comfortable performing in the nude with company. Good enough. There are plenty of other positions that suit modesty and healthy workouts. No problem.

All of that aside, working out nude with a handy floor to ceiling mirror gives one the opportunity to see all the muscles in action, study our form, and develop a positive self-image as we progress. Lynn Boyle of Nexus says, "Once a group gets comfortable "performing" in mixed company, being nude becomes rather ho-hum. You get self-absorbed working your program."

Well, maybe the women do. Once I acclimated to having a male behind me while doing Sun Lotuses, the rest was academic. I just don't see what I don't want to see. And once you've get accustomed to how people look doing nude strenuous exercises, and they observe you, a sort of brotherhood/sisterhood develops. You feel close to those people in ways you wouldn't expect.

"Candid" in the sense of capturing a nude workout means just that. How else could it be photographed or video taped without heavy editing? When it comes to nude sports or other nude recreation, you're the editor. You just have to manage your view.

You Try Writing This Stuff

As an middle aged male I find it difficult (feels silly) to write brief copy for the purpose of highlighting additions to the Candid Nudity site. I've said this before. It wasn't my plan to become more fascinated than ever with teen nudity where, in my case "it all began," speaking of my journey into the world of people who engaged carnal knowledge. Remember that day? You felt like you'd leaped an eternity, from boyhood into the realm of perpetual butterfly stomach (will she call? Is she thinking of me?). Infatuation then, fascination now, a nearly alliterate summary.

Looking back I wonder, at times, why I ever grew up. Those were the days in more ways than you might think should you happen to say to someone "those were the days." At one point in our lives, teen girls were part of our legitimate universe. We had every right to be there, among them, gasping and grasping, begging for a peek, feeling blessed if some touching was permitted, pleasingly horrified if they requested a reciprocal viewing.

Now, thirty years hence, it's all a dream. After marriage, after raising my own teens (and don't forget your daughter's friends and those sleepovers--yes, we were all on the same wavelength), divorce, the poorly conceived dalliance that resulted in hefty sums being paid, after all this you find the good grace to accept your aging predicament, only to discover this reprisal in the loins. All men I talk to, after sufficient scotch, get around to the subject. Teens. We can't get them out of our minds.

Don't worry mothers. You need not take protective measures. We are not after their flesh, just their memory. Photography is the means, not assault. What trickles our way, captured candidly, in good spirits and happy times, willingly, smilingly, is viewed respectfully, with reverence. Digital ease in capture has been a Godsend, filling fantasy albums, rekindling nostalgia, provoking those long-shot emails into the ether to find lost teen loves, girls with names like Debbie and Patty, and not Caitlen or Alicia.

Well, that's where it sends me, these generous glimpses into the mildly erotic pastimes and pleasures of teens, their sly expressions, their dreamy posturings for the camera.

That wasn't so bad. I actually don't feel too silly.

Off frame booms a voice, "Caitlen, get your clothes on!" Caitlen stares bemused at the camera, rolls her eyeballs, and shrieks "Yes Mother!" but keeps right on shooting, taking control of the camera to pan her friends, variously "near nude" in silly outfits. It's one way to beat boredom and a great way to exasparate one's mother.

Teens of the day, nearly second generational Internet wise, can't help but ingest copious amounts of nudity by the time they become of age. When they become of age they get their first cell phones and the idea that sending a topless images could be a hoot (check your kid's cell phone image bank if you don't believe me). They're not being objectified. They're objectifying the recipient, committing them to the ranks of "I saw you naked" without their consent, making them accomplice.

Girls used to ham it up for the camera dressing up as their mothers. Now they ham it up by dressing down, baring themselves strategically, posting the normal course of their development in diary fashion across a digital ether. Where it ends up--well, we know where it ends up.

It would creepy to appreciate another's impulse to reveal themselves naked if it wasn't so lighthearted. In in the end it banishes forever the fear of being caught compromisingly nude. You saw me naked? So what? Everyone has. Imagine yourself being thus armed.

Me? Naked? Big deal.

Self Explanatory

We don't need to question the appeal of some nude photography. Teen nudes represent the quintessence of the form, the more candid the better.

When editing for themes, teen nudes in natural environments offer a compelling argument for simplicity. What could be more wonderful than a beautiful day, a lush meadow, and a frolicking teenage girl? Not much.

Our candid collections have varying motifs--goofy, sleepover, impromptu, accidentally unveilings, and beyond. But none is more pleasant to look at then those taken in nature, in bucolic settings, in country settings generally. What puts one photograph on a nudist page or in the candid collections is really of no consequence.

If viewing nude teens in nature ties your tongue, don't worry. Words aren't necessary.

Goofing Off Nude

Leave to kids to desecrate a sacred American pastime--the hula hoop. Well okay, we forgive them, but just this once.

Categorizing the slush pile of submissions for the nudist magazine produces a sizable quantity of photography that we just had to put somewhere, but not in the nudist magazine (there being something "un-nudist" about them). Hence, "Candid Nudity," a perfect location for nude hula hooping, slip & slides and fooling around in underwear (which teens seem to do an awful lot of).

Though I'm an appreciative adult, it's still a challenge to deliver copy that doesn't sound like high school graffiti when talking about nudity. So I'll keep this short. Besides, pictures say it best.

Running Around Outdoors Naked Is Fun

One need not be an ardent nudist to enjoy a little outdoor nudity. What's more fun summer than hanging out in the backyard nude? Or skinny dipping? Not much.

If you've got a camera, some attractive friends and a warm sunny to kill, make it an event to remember. Take your clothes off. As more and more people get used to the idea, the heavier our burden becomes. Submissions are up a 100% over last summer, and not your typical voyeur-quality stuff. No, this you want to see.

Candid Teen Nudity, In Passing

Accidental witnessing of full or partial nudity makes for one of those days when you feel at the top of your game. Well, if you're a man, and the viewed subject in female, in this case a teen of enviable form. Life's little treasures are of these moments made.

Candid in this sense means haphazard, a chance glimpse, of no import save for the pleasure it gives the viewer. What I find startling these days is the nonchalance of the viewed. "Oh, hi uncle Mike," for example, when I sighted my niece sorting out a top while topless. No big deal.

The ubiquity of "candid" encounters is indicative of the general freedom teens are expressing about their nudity. No big deal. Well, maybe not to them. Forgive if, in passing, I mention that for me it's an excellent deal.

Candid Nudity From The Bath

When I happened to find myself single in my mid forties, I didn't think of all the occasions I'd miss to see a woman naked in course of just getting through daily life. My ex had been liberal with her nudity around the house, never quick to cover up or shy away from being seen in her underwear or nude. You take such things for granted when married.

Then, divorced, attending a dinner party with couples (the one's you keep), you realize at the end of the evening, when these folks get home, the husbands will undoubtedly be witness to their wives nudity, as I used to be, but am no more. Those little blessings of living together, the intimacy of having a woman comfortable around you while nude or in bra and panties--well, for now not in my playbook.

Well, thank God for digital cameras, and the profusion of photography that, for now, will have to do to satisfy my voyeuristic ambitions. While not the real thing, it's evidence it's out there and, frankly, the variety is kind of nice.

Candid Photography From Home

In some circles it's "gotcha" photography--the wife or girlfriend getting dressed, an impromptu impulse to grab the camera (an accidental upload to the Internet). In our mind's it's called magic, when innocent nudity reveals the simple pleasures of life. It's candid, it's casual, and it's worth a moment's reflection. Then, as Seinfeld intuits, what else is there? More. Always more.

For example, sleepovers. There's often a lax attitude involved with sleeping over at a friend's or relative's house, those lazy waking up moments when the attractive sister-in-law (for example) scampers, from the made-up sofa where she slept to the bathroom, in a t-shirt and panties. It can break the tedium of long drives, get the synapses a boost, create excitement for what awaits at the destination. It's all-American, the original lap-dance of the New World. Frankly, it's dangerous. But so is texting.

Who hasn't, in the course of a long, boring slog in the Volvo, been tempted to ask the girlfriend or wife (even your own) to display her breasts? It's right up there with navigation duties. It's fair exchange--honey, help me wake up, our safety's at stake.

Nudity As A Form Of Initiation

Here's a good idea: Take a freshmen class of Swedish teens and, as a rite of initiation to the university, give them a bunch of tasks to do in varying degrees of undress. Running the length of the football field in their underwear is a good start, and having them strip in the gym prior to completing a calisthenics routine is a finish. Call it day one.

Young men and women are routinely punished in this way across Scandinavia. The ritual hazing is treated with aplomb by initiates who've enjoyed communal nude associations since birth, from saunas to public pools and beaches.
